The Artist
Born in Scotland in 1948, he has roots in Galloway and on the island of Colonsay. He studied at Glasgow School of Art graduating diploma of Art in 1970. He has lived and taught in Glasgow, South Uist and Skye, and has painted and travelled in Northern and Southern Europe, particularly Italy, France and Germany. Andrew now works full-time in his own studio, painting, print-making and carving and exhibits regularly.Andrew is presently engaged in several projects involving exhibitions in Skye, Edinburgh and Glasgow and has work touring in the acclaimed "An Leabhar Mor/ The Great Book of Gaeldom" Exhibition which continues its international journey.
He is joint curator with Cailean Maclean writer, photographer and broadcaster, of "Dol ar Teas an Righligh/ Basking in the Warmth of the Reel", an exhibition in celebration of pipe music which is touring in collaboration with the National Piping Centre, Glasgow.
Andrew is also working and researching for a large scale commissioned wood carving and for an exhibition celebrating the vitality and robustness of the Romanesque and Medieval world now long obscured in Scottish terms, comprising carvings,prints and calligraphy by a group of invited artists, which is also under construction with likely completion in 2010.

Andrew will also be exhibiting in a joint show of recent work of Highland and Island themes in Edinburgh's Dundas St. Gallery December 13th.-19th.2009
